The Opportunity A leading international alternative investment manager with a multi-strategy platform across private markets is seeking an experienced Vice President – Asset Management to join its London-based Real Estate Credit team.
The firm provides tailored financing solutions to high-quality sponsors across the UK and Europe, with a focus on senior, mezzanine and whole-loan structures secured against commercial real estate. The London team manages a dynamic portfolio spanning development, transitional and income-producing assets.
This is a hands-on role with primary responsibility for managing a live loan portfolio across the UK, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with underwriting assumptions. The position offers significant exposure to borrower interaction, credit decision-making and complex workout situations within a high-performance, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities *Manage a portfolio of live real estate loans across investment, transitional and development assets throughout the UK.
*Conduct regular site visits and maintain close borrower relationships, monitoring project progress, risks and performance against business plans.
*Oversee drawdown requests, cost-to-complete reviews and contingency management in conjunction with monitoring surveyors and internal credit teams.
*Lead the management of extensions, restructurings and redemptions, ensuring optimal risk-adjusted outcomes.
*Manage non-performing loans (NPLs), including recovery strategy formulation, enforcement processes and workout execution where required.
*Maintain detailed loan-level cashflow models, ensuring accuracy of financial data and timely reporting of key metrics.
*Partner closely with Origination, Credit and Portfolio Management teams, feeding asset performance insights into future underwriting decisions.
*Contribute to portfolio-level analysis, stress testing and investor reporting requirements.
Candidate ProfileExperience *Minimum 10 years’ experience in real estate lending, credit asset management or development monitoring.
*Demonstrable track record managing a diversified portfolio of UK real estate loans, including development and transitional assets.
*Strong experience in construction monitoring, cashflow oversight and NPL/workout strategies.
*Deep understanding of UK real estate markets and sponsor dynamics.
*Background within a debt fund, bank or real estate investment manager active in the UK market.
Skills & Attributes *Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel capability.
*Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with borrowers, advisors and internal stakeholders.
*Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple live projects simultaneously.
*Commercially astute, with the ability to identify risk early and implement pragmatic solutions.
*Collaborative team player with the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Education *Degree educated (minimum 2:1 or First Class or international equivalent).
