Tenancy Sustainment Officer / Housing Officer
Salary: £25,389
Contract: 3-month temporary to permanent
Location: Supported Accommodation Service (travel required)
DBS: Enhanced – Adults Barred List
About the Role
We are working with a reputable Housing Association who are expanding their team and seeking an experienced Tenancy Sustainment Officer / Housing Officer.
In this role, you will help service users maintain their tenancy, manage risks, maximise income and work towards independent living. You will complete assessments, monitor rental income, carry out property inspections, and take action on tenancy issues such as arrears, ASB and breaches.
This is a varied and responsible role where you will support a higher caseload than general support workers and act as the local expert on rents, tenancy compliance and housing regulations.
Key Responsibilities
*Complete full needs assessments, risk assessments and determine support requirements.
*Carry out property inspections, room checks, inventories and health & safety checks.
*Identify and address tenancy breaches, including arrears, ASB and non-compliance.
*Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to support tenancy sustainment.
*Provide practical support around budgeting, maximising income, managing arrears, benefits, and preventing homelessness.
*Maintain accurate records, case notes, reports and KPIs in line with GDPR.
*Monitor rental income, arrears, voids, recharges, payment plans and benefit claims.
*Report on compliance, health & safety issues and income performance.
*Hold and manage your own caseload with autonomy and good judgement.
About You
Essential
*Experience in supported accommodation or a similar housing environment.
*Strong knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation.
*Understanding of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and PIP.
*Excellent IT skills across Microsoft Office and internal housing systems.
*Confident lone working and able to manage your own diary.
*Strong report-writing, record-keeping and audit trail documentation skills.
*Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality.
*Car driver with access to a vehicle for work.
Desirable
*CIH Level 3 (or willingness to work towards it).
*Knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centred practice.
*Knowledge of health & safety within housing environments.
Additional Information
*This role requires an Enhanced DBS (Adults Barred List).
*Duties may evolve to meet service needs.
*All staff must comply with organisational Health & Safety procedures.
