Job Description:
Cook – Adult Services
*Location: Castle Grange, Ing Lane, Newsome, Huddersfield, HD4
*Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour
*Job Type: Full-time (rota-based, including some weekends)
Join our dedicated team as a Cook in our residential adult care service at Castle Grange. This role is crucial in providing nutritious, balanced meals for up to 24 service users, ensuring dietary needs, preferences, and abilities are met while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals, snacks, and beverages for 24 service users.
*Adapt menus to meet individual dietary requirements, including allergies, soft diets, cultural needs, and health conditions.
*Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene, ensuring all areas, equipment, and utensils are cleaned to required standards.
*Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and ensure safe storage of ambient, chilled, and frozen foods.
*Monitor and record fridge/freezer temperatures and maintain all required food safety documentation.
*Work safely with kitchen equipment and adhere to moving & handling guidelines.
*Contribute to menu planning, ensuring correct portion sizes and balanced nutrition.
*Support and guide any Kitchen Domestic Assistants working in the kitchen.
*Follow all council policies including safeguarding, ensuring a safe environment for vulnerable adults.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in cooking for groups, ideally within care, education, or catering settings.
*Good knowledge of food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene certification is ideal).
*Understanding of dietary needs for older adults and adults with disabilities.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
*Flexible, positive, and professional attitude.
