Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Maintenance, Engineering & Infrastructure to lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across one of the UK’s largest and most diverse university estates. This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, optimising asset performance, and driving service excellence across mechanical, electrical, building fabric and energy engineering teams.
You will provide strategic direction, technical expertise and day-to-day leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring maintenance activities are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with sector best practice. Working closely with senior leaders, stakeholders and external partners, you will play a pivotal role in shaping maintenance strategies, managing risk, and supporting the long-term sustainability of the estate.
Essential Criteria
*Degree, HNC or HND (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
*Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng/IEng) or equivalent senior professional standing.
*Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IET, IMechE, IWFM).
*Extensive experience in Hard FM, building services, facilities management or estate operations within a complex environment.
*Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, H&S and built-environment legislation.
*Competence with CAFM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
*Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and significant budgets.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
