Working for a National Not for Profit organisation we have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant.
About the Role
Lead the strategic development and improvement of financial accounting processes, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and governance frameworks while driving innovation in financial reporting, systems integration, and treasury management. Act as senior advisor to executive leadership on financial matters, contributing to long term financial sustainability and risk mitigation.
Lead, manage and develop the Financial Accounting and Treasury Teams, through the whole employee life cycle, embedding a high-performance culture.
• Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring strategic alignment with organisational goals and external reporting standards.
• Design and implement advanced financial controls and risk management frameworks.
• Lead cross-functional projects to integrate financial systems (e.g., ERP upgrades,
automation initiatives) and improve data governance.
• Oversee treasury operations, including investment portfolio management, liquidity planning, and donor income optimisation.
• Lead the development of financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory and sector standards.
• Provide strategic oversight of tax compliance, including complex VAT scenarios, corporation tax planning, and PAYE audits.
Qualifications

*• Design and implement advanced financial controls and risk management
*frameworks.
*• Lead cross-functional projects to integrate financial systems (e.g., ERP upgrades,
*automation initiatives) and improve data governance.
*• Oversee treasury operations, including investment portfolio management, liquidity
*planning, and donor income optimisation.
*• Represent PDSA in external financial forums, regulatory consultations, and sector-
*wide initiatives.
*• Lead the development of financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with
*evolving regulatory and sector standards.
*• Provide strategic oversight of tax compliance, including complex VAT scenarios,
*corporation tax planning, and PAYE audits.
*• Collaborate with senior leadership on financial strategy, capital planning, and
*scenario modelling.
*• Drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, KPI development, and
*performance analytics.
*• Act as Deputy to the Head of Financial Accounting, with delegated authority to
*make strategic decisions. Qualified Accountant / passed finalist with recognised body (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), with significant financial accounting and treasury management experience.
Required Skills
*High proficiency in Excel and data management.
*Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, Charity SORP, and relevant tax regulations.
*Proven ability to deliver a year-end closedown and with external auditors and complete audit.
