Job Description:
Policy and Support Officer
*Hourly Rate: £18.62
*Location: Sheffield (Hybrid working)
*Job Type: Interim
Join our Client in their Business Operations team as a Policy and Support Officer and play a pivotal role in supporting Executive and Senior Directors. This interim position is based in Sheffield and offers hybrid working options. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly organised, proactive, and professional, looking to make a significant impact in supporting the delivery of the priorities and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Act as the first point of contact for senior internal and external stakeholders, including Leaders, Councillors, Chief Executives, civil servants, and media representatives.
*Manage complex diaries, coordinate meetings, book travel, and ensure efficient scheduling.
*Oversee inboxes, responding to queries, delegating tasks, and flagging urgent matters.
*Draft clear, professional emails and correspondence on behalf of directors.
*Produce high-quality documents, briefings, reports, and presentations.
*Support research, project work, data analysis, and performance reporting.
*Take ownership of specific projects from start to finish.
*Prepare agendas, take minutes, and manage action logs for key meetings.
*Organise directorate-wide events and activities, ensuring value for money.
*Work with colleagues to coordinate timely briefings and speeches for the seniors office.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to present information clearly.
*Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
*Confidence engaging with people at all levels, internally and externally.
*Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information quickly.
*A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
*Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
*Desirable: A degree or equivalent experience and an interest in local government, policy, and governance.
