Job Description:
Sellick Partnership is proud to be supporting a local authority partnership in the South East to appoint a Director of Local Government Reorganisation.
*Hybrid working
*Interim- 24-30 months
*Competitive day rate
This is a rare and career-defining opportunity to lead a significant transformation programme in local government- shaping new foundations for sustainable, high-performing public services across multiple authority areas.
The Director of LGR will provide strategic leadership across a complex, system-wide reorganisation portfolio.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Local Government Reorganisation: Strategic Portfolio Leadership
* Set the roadmap, critical path and delivery milestones

* Translate political ambition into clear, measurable delivery plans

* Establish and lead a robust Portfolio Management Office

Governance, Legal & Assurance
* Implement strong governance and decision-making frameworks

* Ensure legal and constitutional readiness

* Maintain rigorous risk, issue and dependency management

Stakeholder & System Leadership
* Build trusted relationships with Leaders, Members and Chief Executives

* Oversee communications with residents, partners, staff and unions

* Foster collaborative working across all participating authorities

People, Culture & Workforce Transition
* Lead programme structure design and resourcing

* Oversee workforce transition, organisational development and TUPE

* Embed a positive, inclusive and delivery-focused culture

Finance, Commercial & Digital Oversight
* Own programme budget, benefits realisation and commercial planning

* Oversee ICT transition, data migration and information governance

* Ensure safe service continuity and Day One readiness

About the Director of Local Government Reorganisation: You will bring:
* A track record of leading public sector transformation or reorganisation

* Experience operating within complex political environments

* Strong financial and commercial acumen

* Expertise in programme and portfolio management

* Understanding of local government legislation and governance

* A collaborative, resilient and solutions-focused leadership style
