Payroll Advisor - Fixed-Term Contract (6 Months)
Up to £35,000 pro rata
We’re supporting a well-established international organisation in Warrington, Cheshire seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join their payroll team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
This role has a strong project focus, supporting the implementation of a new payroll system, while also contributing to day-to-day payroll operations. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detail, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced payroll environment.
The Role You’ll play a key role in both payroll delivery and system transition, including:
Payroll System Implementation
* Supporting parallel payroll runs and analysing results
* Identifying discrepancies and root causes
* Assisting with process reviews and redesign
* Helping document payroll processes and training materials
Payroll Operations
* Processing end-to-end payroll across multiple contracts
* Applying national and collective pay agreements
* Managing pay increases and back-pay calculations
* Processing starters, leavers, and associated payments
* Auditing payroll work for accuracy and compliance
* Supporting payroll sign-off and final checks
* Producing payroll reports for internal stakeholders
* Responding to payroll queries professionally and efficiently
Compliance & Year-End
* Supporting tax year-end processes and P11Ds
* Assisting with benefits-in-kind processing
* Ensuring compliance with HMRC, pension, and auto-enrolment requirements
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation
About You * Proven payroll experience in a fast-paced environment
* Previous involvement in a payroll system implementation
* Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
* Confident Excel skills (intermediate level)
* Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
* Able to work collaboratively and meet tight deadlines
Qualifications * A CIPP payroll qualification is desirable but not essential
