Accounts Assistant – Luxury Retail
London, West End (Office-Based)
£40,000 – £45,000
Overview
We have an excellent and interesting opportunity for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a luxury retail business based in London. This is a hands-on position supporting the Founder with the day-to-day financial operations of a fast-paced, high-value retail environment.
The role requires someone who understands the complexities of luxury goods, including high-value transactions, international shipping, and multi-currency operations.
Responsibilities
*Processing supplier invoices and managing purchase ledger activities
*Raising and issuing customer invoices
*Performing bank and account reconciliations
*Managing multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange considerations
*Supporting VAT processes, including international and complex retail transactions
*Assisting with shipping, logistics documentation, and related financial records
*Chasing outstanding payments and managing credit control
*Supporting budgeting and cash flow forecasting
*Preparing and maintaining accruals and prepayments
*Ensuring accurate and organised financial paperwork and records
Candidate Profile
*Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
*Finance degree or AAT qualified / part-qualified accountant
*Background in luxury or high-value retail
*Strong understanding of: *Complex invoicing structures
*International shipping and logistics processes
*VAT, including cross-border transactions
*Experience with multi-currency accounting
*Proficiency in Xero is essential
*Knowledge of the VAT Margin Scheme is highly desirable
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*Strong communication skills, particularly for supplier and client interaction
*Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
*Commercial awareness, particularly within luxury retail
*Strong problem-solving skills and accuracy
