JOB TITLE: Criminal Defence Solicitor        
PQE REQUIRED: 1+     
LOCATION: West Yorkshire               
SALARY: £47,000 (DOE)                   

THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will represent clients detained at police stations and manage a varied caseload spanning the full range of criminal offences. The role includes conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including summary trials and appearing in the Crown Court where Higher Rights of Audience are held. The candidate will deliver consistently high quality representation to all clients, maintaining professional standards and ensuring thorough case preparation at every stage. They will also contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative team environment.

THE CANDIDATE:
Applicants should be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 1 year’s PQE in criminal law and a strong interest in publicly funded criminal defence work. Crime Duty Accreditation is preferred but not essential and there must be a willingness to obtain Duty Accreditation, with full support provided.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and advocacy skills, alongside strong IT proficiency and confidence using case management systems. They will adopt a pragmatic, professional and positive approach to their work, with the ability to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision. A high level of attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and colleagues are essential.
