Assistant Harbour Master
The Port of Lancaster (Glasson Dock) has a vacancy for an Assistant Harbour Master - this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate and will offer clear progression opportunity.
This role will involve;
•
Reporting directly to the Harbour Master.
•
Cover for the Harbour Master in their absence.
•
Assisting the Harbour Master with statutory compliance.
•
Working to and upholding the Health and Safety policy standards at the Port.
•
Day-to-day planning/supervision of the Port Marine Employees.
•
Preventative/planned/reactive maintenance and record keeping.
•
Operation of various Plant Machinery i.e. Material handler/Telehandler/Bulldozers.
•
This is a physically demanding role; the applicant is required to pass an ML5 / ENG1 Medical. It includes anti-social hours, ladder climbing and time at sea.
Qualifications/experience
•
RYA/MCA CoC - Pilot boat / workboat operation (Essential).
•
Port/Marine management/Supervisory experience (Essential).
•
IOSH Managing Safely (Desirable).
•
MCA 4P oil spill response (Desirable).
•
PFSO certified (Desirable).
•
Harbour Master Diploma / Certificate (Desirable).
•
NPORS/CSCS accreditation/certification for Material Handler/Telehandlers/FLT/Bulldozers.
•
Security clearance to CTC level is essential and is a condition of employment. Failure to meet and uphold this will lead directly to termination of employment.
The Port of Lancaster is situated on the River Lune, the main cargoes handled at the Port are: General cargo/Fertilizers/Scrap metal/Aggregates.
Salary £36,000 - £46,000 commensurate with experience.
