Senior Credit Analyst – Commercial Real Estate
City of London

Salary: £90,000 – £100,000 + benefits
An established international bank based in the City of London is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Analyst to join its Credit Risk Department (CRD). This is a high-impact role offering exposure to complex credit approvals, senior stakeholder engagement, and a strong focus on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) transactions.
Reporting to the Deputy Head / Manager of Credit Risk, you will play a key role in credit evaluation, portfolio monitoring, and risk governance, supporting the bank’s strategic growth while maintaining robust credit discipline.
Key Responsibilities
*Prepare comprehensive credit evaluation reports, including transaction overviews, financial and non-financial risk analysis, key risk identification, mitigations, and credit recommendations (including credit enhancements and management conditions).
*Support the implementation and ongoing refinement of the bank’s credit risk appetite, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
*Lead credit assessments primarily for Commercial Real Estate transactions, with exposure to additional sectors as required.
*Provide independent challenge and guidance to Front Office proposals, ensuring alignment with internal credit policies.
*Draft and present clear, well-reasoned credit opinions to the Credit Committee, delivering timely turnaround in line with departmental SLAs.
*Advise the Head of CRD, Deputy General Manager (Credit), and Credit Committee on material risks and appropriate mitigation strategies.
*Conduct post-lending credit management, including: Monitoring credit limits, exposures, and covenant compliance, reviewing borrower financial performance in the context of market and industry trends and tracking and enforcing conditions precedent and conditions subsequent throughout the loan lifecycle
*Perform credit reviews and industry research for new proposals and existing clients (at least annually).
*Proactively monitor sector, industry, and counterparty risks, identifying early warning signals.
*Undertake additional duties as required to support senior management within Credit Risk.
Candidate Profile
*8–10+ years’ experience in Commercial Real Estate credit analysis / credit review within banking or financial services.
*Strong understanding of credit risk across industries, geographies, and client types, with well-developed business and macroeconomic insight.
*Advanced financial analysis, forecasting, and stress-testing capabilities.
*Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
*Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
