Job Description:
Raw Material Inspector (Furnace Experience)Barnsley| Monday–Friday | £28,000 – £31,751 | Monday to Friday (Days only)
We’re looking for an experienced Raw Material Inspector with furnace knowledge to support high-quality glass production within a heavy manufacturing environment.
This is a critical role — raw material contamination, poor testing, or missed non-conformances directly impact production, quality, and cost. If you understand how vital material control is to furnace performance, you’ll know exactly why this position matters.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for ensuring all incoming raw materials are thoroughly inspected, tested, and documented before entering the batch and furnace process. You’ll also support daily Batch & Furnace operations, helping maintain consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities*Carry out acceptance testing on incoming raw materials, ensuring quality standards are met
*Monitor environmental compliance of incoming materials and report/action any non-conformances
*Maintain accurate documentation and traceability records
*Support supervision with the daily control and operation of Batch & Furnace processes
*Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety and housekeeping
*Operate departmental vehicles safely and in line with procedures
*Work across multiple sites as required
About YouWe’re looking for someone with:
*Experience working in a furnace or batch & furnace environment
*A strong understanding of raw material contamination risks and impact on glass production
*Knowledge of incoming material inspection procedures
*Experience operating industrial vehicles such as:
*Fork Lift Truck
*Mechanical Shovel
*Skid Steer Shovel
*Cullet Lorry
*A proactive, safety-first mindset
*The ability to work independently while supporting wider production operations
This role would suit someone hands-on, quality-focused, and comfortable in an industrial setting where precision and compliance matter.
