Job Description:
A public sector organisation is seeking a number of Employee Relations Officer to help support with their Organisational Change Programme. These roles are ideal for experienced employee relations professionals who can operate confidently in fast-paced, complex environments while managing sensitive and often time-critical casework.
You will work as part of a dedicated ER team, coordinating formal processes such as appeals, Employment Tribunal (ET) claims, and a range of employee relations challenges. Your work will help ensure fairness, consistency and legal compliance across the organisation.
This is an initial 3-month contract with an hourly rate of £36.78 to £40.44 per hour via an Umbrella company (PAYE rates also available) and the role is based in Central London and offers hybrid working (2 days per week in the office).
Key Responsibilities
Appeals Management
You will oversee the end-to-end process for a variety of employee appeals, including:
*Coordinating appeals related to disciplinary outcomes, grievances, and redundancy decisions
*Logging, tracking, acknowledging and scheduling appeal hearings
*Preparing case documentation, evidence bundles and timelines
*Supporting hearing managers to ensure processes are fair, transparent and aligned to policy
*Monitoring progress and ensuring deadlines are met
Employment Tribunal (ET) Claims
You will support the organisation in responding effectively to ET claims by:
*Coordinating key documentation including case records, witness statements, and investigation notes
*Liaising with legal advisors or external counsel
*Managing strict legal timelines and ensuring all submissions are completed accurately and on time
*Providing case coordination support to HR colleagues, witnesses and senior managers
*Helping to prepare for preliminary hearings and full tribunal hearings
General Employee Relations Support
You will also contribute to wider ER activity by:
*Handling complex or sensitive ER issues that may involve conflict, complaints, or legal risk
*Advising managers on policy, procedure and best practice
*Ensuring consistent, fair and legally compliant decision-making across cases
*Identifying potential risks and helping mitigate issues before they escalate
*Maintaining accurate records and supporting reporting requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
*Strong experience in employee relations, HR case management, or a related HR advisory role
*Proven ability to manage formal processes such as appeals, grievances or disciplinary cases
*Experience preparing documentation and coordinating case files
*Understanding of UK employment law, policies and procedural fairness
*Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
*Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
*Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
