Job Description:

As our Non-Household Manager (Rainwater Management), you’ll lead this transformation across the business sector, unlocking opportunities with organisations such as schools, supermarkets, hospitals, social housing providers and major transport hubs.
This is a unique opportunity to shape strategic, high-value partnerships that reduce surface water entering the sewer network, deliver on a multitude of wider environmental, social and economical benefits , and accelerate our long-term Rainwater Management ambition.
The Role:You’ll lead the strategy, development and delivery of Rainwater Management opportunities across non-household sites, taking ideas from inception through to delivery. You’ll create compelling propositions for businesses, tailor them to sector-specific needs, and inspire partners to collaborate with UU to reduce and reuse surface water. Strong stakeholder relationships will be at the heart of your work, supporting the wider programme and contributing to BR-Mex performance.
What You’ll Do:*Inspire and influence businesses to collaborate on Rainwater Management initiatives, identifying solutions that deliver shared value for partners and for UU.
*Lead the development and delivery of the overarching non-household Rainwater Management strategy, including business cases, delivery plans and cost–benefit assessments.
*Identify innovative ways of working that maximise co-funding and wider benefit realisation to support effective delivery.
*Build strong relationships with businesses to understand their drainage systems, identify opportunities to reduce or reuse surface water, and understand what incentivises them to act.
*Develop detailed knowledge of wholesale charges related to Rainwater Management and opportunities to influence surface water charging.
*Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Market Services, Water Efficiency and Economic Regulation to align strategy, insights and delivery.
*Work with legal and commercial colleagues to shape partnership and funding agreements that drive long-term value.
What We’re Looking For:You’ll bring a strong mix of technical knowledge, commercial acumen and the ability to build high-trust partnerships.
*A degree (or equivalent experience) in an environmental or technical discipline.
*A genuine passion for Rainwater Management and delivering green/blue solutions.
*Strong understanding of Rainwater Management interventions including SuDS, Nature-Based Solutions, drainage and flood risk.
*Experience working in multi-disciplinary, technical and commercial environments, with excellent organisational skills.
*Strong numeracy and experience developing business cases that demonstrate value and environmental outcomes.
*A confident leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
*Strong commercial and financial understanding to maximise co-funding opportunities and support commercial/legal agreements.
*Ability to build relationships quickly and inspire trust with internal and external stakeholders.
*Knowledge of the non-household retail market and experience delivering projects within the water industry.
*Good understanding of the wider water industry and regulatory context.
