Job Description:
Our client is seeking a proactive, hands-on Warehouse & Logistics Manager to lead day-to-day warehouse and transport operations at their premises in Trafford Park.
This is a key role responsible for stock control, order picking, vehicle loading, route planning, fleet compliance and team management. You’ll ensure deliveries and collections run safely, efficiently and on time (98% OTIF target), while managing costs and maintaining full compliance with UK transport and health & safety legislation.
This is a very reactive, ’boots on the ground’ role that requires a great deal of organisation, flexibility and agility to cope with a constantly changing logistics provision. Delivery of customer orders, collections of materials for stock, finished products from offsite workshops and raw materials for processing at the site and beyond from their partner suppliers, must be carried out within a time constrained schedule. The post holder will be required to ensure appropriate, robust processes are in place within the warehousing area.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily warehouse & logistics operations
* Manage drivers, fleet compliance and route planning
* Monitor budgets, costs and supplier performance
* Maintain high health & safety standards
* Support recruitment, training and development of team members
* Drive continuous improvement and efficiency savings
*Responsible for monitoring, recording, reporting and subsequent disciplinary actions of any driver infringements
*Responsible for the efficient, safe and timely picking and loading of ordered products on to the correct vehicle/route in the correct order of delivery.
*Responsible for the receipt, checking, security and safe & correct storage of goods from suppliers.
*Responsible for the correct storage of goods, textiles and products to ensure the safe and efficient picking of received orders.
*Responsible for the efficient and timely planning of delivery routes ensuring loads are to maximum loading capacity wherever possible whilst conforming to vehicle and VOSA loading standards (in terms of volume, weight and sufficient restraint), thus ensuring the best possible return in terms of payload value and vehicle efficiency.
*Provide support, including ’boots on the ground’ practical support, and advice to the Warehousing and Logistics Team and other stakeholders and influence staff and key decision makers to accept change where appropriate.
*Safe Fork lift truck operations within the facility and yard areas.
*Ensuring that deadlines and outcomes are met and monitored, offering advice, support and guidance as required.
Requirements
About You:
* Proven experience in warehouse & logistics management
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Commercial driving experience (Class 1 desirable)
* FLT experience (Counterbalance & Pivot Steer preferred)
* Highly organised, adaptable and hands-on
This is an exciting opportunity to shape operations within a growing, family-run business and play a leading role in developing a new standalone logistics hub.
Benefits
Salary- £50,000- £55,000
Bonus profit share scheme + excellent working environment
