Our Client
We are working with a highly respected UK charity known for its strong brand and stable funding model. The organisation has doubled in size in recent years, prides itself on high-quality financial management, and maintains a collaborative, values-driven culture. They now seek an Interim Head of Finance to support them through year-end and audit.
The Role
The Interim Head of Finance will lead the technical finance function during a key period, reporting directly to the Finance Director. You will guide the organisation through year-end, oversee the audit, ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, and manage two established team members. The role requires strong technical capability, a steady hand during peak activity, and the ability to maintain the high analytical standards already in place.
Main Duties
*Lead the year-end close and manage the external audit process
*Oversee all financial controls, ledgers, and reporting accuracy
*Provide the Finance Director with timely, reliable financial insight
*Manage and support two experienced finance team members
*Oversee charity-specific financial requirements, including restricted and donor reporting
*Ensure high-quality analysis to support organisational decision-making
*Maintain strong financial foundations left by the outgoing post-holder
*Work collaboratively across departments during busy appeal periods
*Uphold rigorous standards of financial governance within a technically demanding role
The Successful Candidate*Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred; exceptional finalists considered
*Strong audit background highly advantageous
*Charity experience desirable, particularly restricted/donor reporting or pass-through grant models
*Experience with humanitarian organisations is a strong asset
*Confident people manager able to lead a settled, capable team
*Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a technically demanding role
