Job Description:
Ready for Your Next Big Career Move?

We’re looking for an analytical, curious, and detail-driven Reporting and Evaluation Analyst to join the West Midlands Growth Company. If you enjoy turning data into insight, working across complex stakeholder networks, and supporting activity that shapes regional economic growth, this could be your perfect next step.

Who are we?

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.
From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.
We are building a sharper, business-focused organisation that attracts investment, supports high-growth companies and drives measurable economic impact.
If you want your work to shape how growth is delivered across one of the UK’s most important regions, this is your opportunity.

The Role

As our new Reporting and Evaluation Analyst, you’ll play a vital role within the Business Insight team, synthesising qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making and shape regional business support activity. You will support key functions across high-growth services, strategic account management, cluster development, and workforce and talent initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of core data processes, shape reporting frameworks, and produce insight that directly influences regional economic development priorities.

What You’ll Be Doing

*Take ownership of internal CRM data and processes for business support functions, ensuring systems are accurate, effective, and easy for staff to use.
*Analyse and synthesise qualitative insights alongside secondary research to brief teams before business engagements.
*Maintain and develop the company database within WMGC’s CRM, focusing on strategic and high-growth companies.
*Code qualitative data from adviser notes and business meetings to extract themes, challenges, and opportunities.
*Build and maintain insight collection forms to meet evaluation and reporting requirements.
*Design and maintain dashboards and quantitative measures for use by regional public-sector leadership.
*Produce written reports summarising intelligence from account meetings and wider insight gathering.
*Collaborate with Local Authorities and the Combined Authority to gather and validate key findings.
*Use AI and other tools to automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency while maintaining quality.
*Combine primary and secondary data to create reports and dashboards that highlight regional trends, business needs, and emerging opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:
*Strong communication, presentation and report-writing skills.
*Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across varied stakeholders.
*High attention to detail with the ability to interpret and analyse complex information.
*A motivated, self-starting approach to work and a desire to take ownership of complex tasks.
*Proficiency in data analysis using Excel and presenting insights using PowerPoint.
*Flexibility, resilience, and strong time-management skills in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.
*A broad education including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above.
Desirable:

*Experience in qualitative research environments (e.g., social science, behavioural research).
*Knowledge of economic development, public administration, or business growth.
*Experience working with public- and private-sector stakeholders in a multi-partner setting.
*Strong commercial awareness and experience building relationships with senior contacts.
*Familiarity with regional or strategic business engagement.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

*26 days holiday
*Company pension scheme including life assurance
*Hybrid working with 2 days in the office
*Cycle to work
*Simple Health employee membership scheme
