Job Description:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a busy and well-established school for an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their finance team on a full-time basis.

This role is strictly suited to candidates who are already fully experienced in a purchase ledger role. No training will be provided.

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school’s purchase ledger function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Key responsibilities will include:

Processing high volumes of purchase invoices and matching to purchase orders and delivery notes

Maintaining supplier accounts and resolving invoice and statement queries

Preparing and processing payment runs in line with school and trust procedures

Supporting budget holders with purchasing and invoice queries

Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies

Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit and compliance requirements

Supporting month-end and financial reporting processes

Working closely with the wider finance and administration team

The ideal candidate

Proven experience working as a Purchase Ledger Clerk or within a finance team

Ability to start the role and perform all duties immediately, with no training or supervision

Previous experience in a school, academy trust or public-sector environment is highly desirable

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

Confident handling confidential and sensitive financial information

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines

Strong IT skills, including finance systems and Microsoft Excel
