OverviewBrent Council is seeking an Emergency Planning & Resilience Officer to join the Organisational Assurance and Resilience team. This role is critical in ensuring the Council maintains full compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and remains prepared to respond effectively to major incidents or emergencies affecting the borough.
You will work closely with internal departments, external partners, emergency services, and the wider community to strengthen preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities across Brent.
Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Deputy Head of Resilience, your responsibilities will include:
*Designing and delivering emergency planning training sessions and exercises.
*Reviewing, updating, and improving the Council’s emergency response and resilience plans.
*Collaborating with external agencies, including the emergency services and other London emergency planning teams.
*Working with local voluntary and community organisations to support and build community resilience.
*Supporting the development of new capabilities, tools, and processes that enhance preparedness across the borough.

*Strong organisational skills, with the ability to develop and introduce new ideas.
*Ability to interpret legislation, guidance, and frameworks to create practical, effective plans.
*Experience in delivering training, workshops, or exercises.
*Familiarity with:

*Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP)
