Job Description:
Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on behalf of a bespoke manufacturer in Sheffield to recruit a Mechanical Fitter.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly innovative business that operates at the forefront of their industry, offering varied work across prototype and small-batch production builds.
Mechanical Fitter
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Competitive DOE
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm, Friday 7:30am – 11:30am
Key Responsibilities:
*Mechanical assembly and machine builds from engineering drawings
*Small-batch production: fitting, building, and final assembly
*Prototype builds for new product development
*Support build readiness: design for manufacture, build processes, quality, and safety
*Inspect and control build quality – ensuring dimensions and characteristics are correct
*Record manufacturing knowledge and support continuous improvement activities
*Assist with Stores functions – control of incoming materials and production orders
*Maintain accurate records: route cards and timesheets
*Carry out general maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workshop
Requirements:
*Excellent hands-on mechanical fitting skills
*Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
*Strong communication and problem-solving skills
*IT literate – confident with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
*Manual machining skills are desirable but not essential
*Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Experience:
*BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
*Experience in prototyping and small-batch manufacturing
*Background in electrical or rotating machinery is advantageous
*Exposure to lean manufacturing is desirable
*Knowledge of winding, impregnation, or assembly of high-strength magnets is a plus
