We’re looking for a Fixed Asset Accountant for our public sector client based in Chelmsford on an initial 3-month contract paying up to £550 per day Inside IR35 (Umbrella).


This role allows hybrid working with an expectation to attend the office 1 day per week.


The successful Fixed Asset Accountant will possess proven skills working with the following –


*Maintaining and managing a Fixed Asset Register including valuation, depreciation, additions and disposals
*Preparing capital accounting entries and supporting year-end statutory accounts
*Reconciling Fixed Asset Registers to the general ledger and resolving discrepancies
*Strong knowledge of CIPFA Code of Practice and local government capital accounting
*Preparing audit-ready working papers, reconciliations and supporting schedules
*Reviewing and challenging external asset valuations for year-end reporting
*Experience producing capital accounting disclosures and documentation
*Knowledge of IFRS 16 lease accounting and related journal entries
*Providing technical accounting advice to finance and non-finance stakeholders
*Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems and asset registers




Experience required


*CCAB qualified accountant
*Strong local government capital accounting experience
*Extensive knowledge of CIPFA Accounting Code and statutory reporting
*Experience working with property valuers and asset valuations
*Experience preparing statutory accounts capital sections
*Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
*Strong communication skills across finance and operational teams
