Job Description:
Reed is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK) for Process Operators based in Batley (WF17 5JE). This full-time, permanent position offers a weekend dayshift, running Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 7pm (23 hours per week), with a competitive pay rate of £12.90 per hour, paid monthly.
FBC UK proudly bakes some of the nation’s most iconic biscuits, including Maryland, Fox’s, Jammie Dodgers and Rocky. Formed through the merger of Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, the company is now the second-largest biscuit manufacturer in the UK, with strong ambitions to become the market leader. Their culture is driven by passionate people who bring innovative ideas, entrepreneurial energy and a genuine love for their brands — because at FBC UK, you could be the jammy to their dodger or the choc-chip to their Maryland.
The role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of processing equipment, while meeting all quality specifications and following strict food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures. Your responsibilities include reviewing oven profiles, recipe sheets and programmes, entering accurate settings into the computerised bulk feed system, refilling hoppers, preparing pre-mix batches, and ensuring all guards and ingredient hoppers are assembled correctly before production begins.
You will operate and adjust a variety of machinery — including the rotary moulder, baking oven, cream mixing equipment, creaming machine, chocolate enrober and chocolate cooler — ensuring that standards are maintained throughout production. Monitoring product quality will be a key part of your role, as will maintaining clean working areas, recording colour standards, reporting faults, and ensuring consistent chocolate supply across the factory.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring technical machine operation experience, ideally within a food or beverage manufacturing setting. You should be confident in following recipes and batch instructions with precision, show strong attention to detail, and consistently uphold hygiene and safety standards. A natural problem-solver, you’ll be able to spot operational irregularities and apply basic mechanical understanding to support adjustments or escalate issues. Experience in fast-paced, high-volume production environments will be highly advantageous, as will strong teamwork and communication skills to support smooth production and effective collaboration with maintenance teams and supervisors. ...
