Reed is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK) for the role of Process Operator, based in Livingston (EH54 5DN). This is a full-time, permanent position paid weekly in arrears, offering an hourly rate of £14.52. The role requires full flexibility to work across a three-shift rotation, which includes Monday to Friday, 6am–2pm, Sunday to Thursday, 10pm–6am, and Monday to Friday, 2pm–10pm.

In the role of Process Operator, you will be responsible for the making and baking of biscuits, which may involve moulding, baking, chocolate processing, and jam depositing. Your duties include checking the programme and oven profile, following accurate recipe sheets, and using the touchscreen system to ensure the correct ingredients are prepared. You will also be responsible for refilling dough hoppers, preparing pre-mix batches, and setting up machinery such as the rotary moulder, baking oven, chocolate enrober, and chocolate cooler. Maintaining high product standards is essential, which includes closely monitoring for any deviations, checking colour standards, and ensuring all documentation is accurate. A strong focus on hygiene is required, with the expectation of keeping both the work area and equipment consistently clean.
While previous experience in a bakery or production environment is preferred, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. Ideal candidates will be numerate, literate, and confident communicators who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and use their own initiative. The role involves manual handling, including lifting items of up to 15kg, and requires a willingness to work in a food manufacturing environment where hygiene and safety standards are critical.

About the role:

This role is responsible for making and baking of biscuits. This may involve moulding, baking, chocolate work and jam depositing.

Key accountabilities

Key responsibilities:
*Check programme/oven profile and relevant recipe sheets
*Ensure relevant recipe is used using the touch screen system/prepping ingredients
*To refill dough-hoppers as required and prepare and add pre-mix batches
*Set up and operate the rotary moulder and baking oven, make adjustments as required to maintain standards/specifications and report any faults
*Set up and operate the chocolate enrober and chocolate cooler, make adjustments as required to maintain standards/specifications and report any faults
*Regularly monitor product for any sign of deviation from standards/specification
*To ensure colour standards and control sheets are checked/recorded and are correct
*To keep working area clean and tidy at all times and keep plant equipment clean


Skills & experience

Key Ingredients for suitable candidates include:
*Production experience in a bakery environment is preferred but not essential (training provided)
