Job Description:
Location: Central London
Job Type: Temporary, full-time (until the end of July)
We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to deliver a proactive, high-quality HR service across our organisation. With 3–5 years of HR advisory experience, the successful candidate will provide confident, pragmatic advice on a wide range of people matters, supporting managers to resolve issues effectively while ensuring compliance with employment law, organisational policy, and public sector standards. This role is crucial in building managerial capability, enhancing employee experience, and supporting our commitment to fairness, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Daytoday of the role:
*Advisory & Casework*Provide professional HR advice on matters including conduct, grievance, performance management, sickness absence, and workplace conflict.
*Manage a personal caseload from initial triage through to resolution, ensuring timely, well-documented outcomes.
*Coach and guide line managers to handle issues with confidence and consistency.
*Prepare clear case documentation—investigation reports, outcome letters, meeting minutes, and evidence packs.

*Employment Law & HR Policy*Apply up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice to provide informed advice.
*Support periodic review of HR policies, ensuring they remain legally compliant and reflect emerging public sector needs.
*Promote consistent application of organisational policies and support equality, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

*Recruitment & Resourcing*Partner with hiring managers across the full recruitment cycle, offering guidance on role design, selection methods, and selection panels.
*Ensure recruitment activities meet safer recruitment standards and reflect organisational values.
*Support onboarding and pre-employment processes, including vetting and compliance checks.

*Data, Systems & Reporting*Use HR systems to maintain accurate employment records, manage workflows, and track key people metrics.
*Produce regular reports on attendance, turnover, ER trends, and workforce demographics for HR Business Partners and senior stakeholders.
*Use data to identify workforce issues and propose evidence-based solutions.

*Organisational Development*Support delivery of L&D initiatives, wellbeing programmes, induction, and engagement activities.
*Assist with change management activities, including restructures, consultation, and organisational reviews.
*Help embed a culture of continuous improvement within HR and across the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
*CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience.
*Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a generalist HR advisory role, ideally within a complex or unionised environment.
*Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR practice.
*Demonstrable experience managing ER cases from start to finish.
*Ability to coach and influence managers at various levels.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
*Confident communicator- both written and verbal- with attention to detail.
*Commitment to public sector values, EDI, and high ethical standards.
