The RoleWe’re looking for a confident, hands-on Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and lead the kitchen during busy service. This is a proper hands-on role - you’ll be on the pass, on the pans, and setting the standard for food quality, consistency, and presentation.
You’ll help deliver exceptional service across daytime dining, group bookings, brewery tours, and weekend trade, while contributing your ideas to seasonal specials and menu development.
Key Responsibilities*Support the Head Chef in running the kitchen day-to-day.
*Lead service during busy periods, ensuring smooth, high-quality delivery.
*Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation.
*Support events, group bookings, and themed nights.
*Manage stock control, ordering, and minimising waste.
*Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
*Train and develop junior kitchen team members.
*Contribute creative ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials.
What We’re Looking For*Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous ready to step up.
*Skilled in fresh food kitchens with experience across multiple services.
*Confident working in a fast-paced environment and remaining calm under pressure.
*Highly organised, with great attention to detail and a passion for quality.
*Level 2 Food Safety Certificate required (Level 3 desirable).
*Creative, hands-on, and ready to lead from the kitchen.
What We Offer*Competitive salary, depending on experience (£28,000–£32,000 per year).
*Full-time, 40–45 hours per week with only three evening services.
*Staff meals on shift and staff discounts.
