An established and growing owner-managed business in South Bristol is looking to appoint a fully qualified Management Accountant into a broad, high-impact role working directly with the CEO.
This is a genuine end-to-end opportunity where you’ll take ownership of the entire finance function — delivering the numbers, the insight and the financial direction of the business.
Far more than a traditional month-end role, you’ll act as the CEO’s financial sounding board, helping to shape commercial decisions while ensuring robust control, cashflow management and forward planning.
This position is ideally suited to a qualified accountant stepping into their first No.1 role, or an experienced SME finance professional who enjoys autonomy, visibility and breadth.
The roleAs the standalone finance lead, you’ll be responsible for:
*Producing monthly management accounts with meaningful analysis and commentary
*Leading the budgeting and forecasting process
*Full ownership of cashflow and working capital management
*Maintaining strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity
*Managing VAT, HMRC compliance, statutory accounts and the year-end audit
*Acting as the key contact for banks, auditors and external advisers
*Partnering with the CEO on performance, cost control, investment appraisal and strategic planning
*Delivering financial modelling and scenario analysis
*Improving processes, systems and reporting as the business grows
About you*Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Strong management accounting and month-end experience
*Able to operate in a hands-on, standalone capacity
*Experience in an SME / owner-managed business — or a clear desire to move into one
*Commercially aware, proactive and comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders
*Motivated by ownership, impact and the opportunity to progress to Finance Director
