Payroll Manager Opportunity – Fast-Growing Business
Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to take ownership of a high-volume payroll function and be part of a growing, dynamic business?
We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join a fast-expanding organisation, managing weekly and monthly payroll for ~750 employees (£30m per annum). This is a newly created role within the finance team, offering scope to shape the payroll function and get involved in HR support tasks over time.
What’s on offer:
* Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (dependent on experience)
* 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
* Office-based (with some flexibility for the right candidate)
* Full handover, training, and ongoing support
* Opportunity to grow with the business and help build a dedicated payroll function
About the role:
* Manage end-to-end payroll for ~750 employees across 10 operational depots
* Payroll is processed via Staffology– much of the process is standardised and automated
* Weekly payroll for ~650 employees (primarily drivers & engineers) and monthly payroll for ~100 office staff
* Pension administration via Nest
* Manage payroll queries and liaise with stakeholders
* Support process improvement and integration projects
* Over time, contribute to HR support and wider finance activities
Candidate profile:
* Experienced in high-volume payroll, ideally including weekly and hourly-paid employees
* Confident managing payroll queries and stakeholder relationships
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Able to work independently, take ownership, and adapt in a growing business
* Bonus: experience in transport, logistics, operational environments, payroll system implementation, or HR support
