Job Description:
Mondrian Alpha is partnering with a highly successful, multi-strategy hedge fund seeking to hire a Compensation & Cost Allocation Specialist for its London office. This is a high-visibility role sitting at the intersection of Finance and the trading business, with direct interaction with senior management and portfolio managers. The position offers genuine ownership across trader cost modelling, expense governance, and performance-linked remuneration analysis.
The remit is broad and commercially focused. You will take responsibility for overseeing trading-related expenses, ensuring third-party costs are accurately reviewed, validated against approved budgets, and appropriately challenged where required. This includes determining which costs are recoverable and ensuring they are allocated correctly across the relevant trading teams. A core element of the role is the design and maintenance of detailed allocation methodologies. You will attribute strategy team costs based on capital usage and financing team costs using balance sheet metrics, while also calculating recurring and performance-linked charges attributable to each desk. Accuracy and transparency are critical, as these outputs directly influence trader economics.
You will play a central role in the annual performance and compensation cycle, partnering closely with senior leadership and individual portfolio managers to review P&L attribution, apply cost allocations, and determine bonus outcomes. This requires both technical precision and the confidence to engage credibly with front-office stakeholders. In addition, you will prepare a comprehensive monthly financial overview for the CEO and executive team, summarising trading economics, cost trends, and compensation metrics. The work will inform strategic decision-making at the highest level of the firm.
The successful candidate will likely have 4-8 years of relevant experience and come from a hedge fund or asset management firm. Exposure to management reporting and compensation analytics is important, and an appreciation to trader compensation is desirable. Advanced Excel skills are essential, alongside a detail-oriented mindset and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills are key, as the role involves regular interaction with senior investment professionals.
This is an opportunity to step into a commercially critical position within a high-performing investment platform, where your work will directly shape how performance and profitability are measured and rewarded. Compensation will depend on the candidate but will be between £75k - £100k plus strong bonus (40-80%).
