Job Description:
We are working in partnership with a growing UK energy infrastructure organisation to appoint a Head of Policy & External Affairs.
This is a senior, high-impact role leading engagement with government, regulators and key industry stakeholders, shaping the policy and regulatory landscape across gas, hydrogen, storage and the wider energy transition. This position will suit an experienced energy policy professional who understands how to influence at senior level and translate complex regulatory frameworks into clear commercial strategy.
The Role
*Reporting into the Senior Leadership Team, you will:
*Lead the organisation’s UK policy and regulatory strategy
*Monitor and influence developments across hydrogen, gas networks, storage, CCUS and system resilience
*Advise the SLT and Board on policy risk, opportunity and strategic positioning
*Coordinate consultation responses and regulatory submissions
*Act as lead interface with government departments, regulators, system operators, MPs and industry bodies
*Shape external narrative in collaboration with communications teams
*Represent the organisation at external forums and industry events
*This is a visible role internally and externally, requiring credibility, strategic thinking and strong stakeholder management capability.
About You - We are looking for someone who brings:
*Significant experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, public affairs or external affairs
*Strong knowledge of the UK energy system, particularly gas, hydrogen or infrastructure regulation
*Experience engaging with senior policymakers and regulators
*Ability to interpret complex policy and provide commercially grounded advice
*Excellent written communication skills (consultation responses, briefings, submissions) Desirable:
*Experience in hydrogen policy or low carbon infrastructure
*Exposure to regulated frameworks and price control environments
*Established networks across UK energy policy and regulatory communities
What’s On Offer
*£70,000 – £85,000 depending on experience
*Performance-related bonus

*Permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week)
