Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD Unit (Primary) Chiswick, West London
Full-time | Term-time | Immediate / Upcoming Start
An excellent primary school in Chiswick is looking to appoint a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to work within its ASD specialist unit. The unit supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder who benefit from a highly structured, supportive learning environment alongside mainstream inclusion where appropriate.
The Role:
*Providing targeted support to pupils with ASD in a specialist unit setting
*Delivering 1:1 and small group support across the primary age range
*Supporting communication, social development and emotional regulation
*Using autism-specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory breaks and structured routines
*Working closely with teachers, SENCO and external professionals
*Promoting independence, confidence and engagement in learning
The Ideal Candidate:
*Strong experience supporting children with ASD in schools or specialist settings
*Knowledge of autism-informed approaches and behaviour support strategies
*Calm, empathetic and resilient personality
*Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
*SEN qualifications or additional training is highly desirable
