Head of Business Development - Student Accommodation
Contract: 8 months FTC
Set within 54 acres of parkland in south-west London, the University of Roehampton is known for its strong collegiate community, inclusive ethos and commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
We are seeking a commercially driven and relationship-focused Head of Business Development to maximise accommodation occupancy for the September 2026 intake and drive sustainable revenue growth across our student accommodation portfolio. This is a strategic and outward-facing role, responsible for developing new partnerships, strengthening existing relationships and delivering a targeted sales and marketing approach that positions the accommodation offer competitively within the market.
With a portfolio of over 1,700 rooms, this role plays a critical part in the commercial success of the University. The postholder will lead the development and delivery of sales and marketing strategies to increase domestic and international bookings, while identifying new partnership opportunities. They will build strong, long-term relationships to secure repeat business and maximise occupancy and revenue performance.
Working closely with Marketing, Accommodation, and Conferencing & Events teams, the Head of Business Development will align campaigns and initiatives to achieve annual targets, monitor market trends and competitor activity, and identify opportunities for diversification, including short-term lets and Summer School income. A regular on-campus presence will be essential to maintain strong internal relationships and oversee activity on the ground. The postholder will work closely with the operations team to support student arrivals and departures, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
We are seeking a confident and commercially minded professional with a strong track record in business development or sales, ideally within student accommodation, property or hospitality. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who thrives on delivering measurable growth and contributing strategically to the University’s wider commercial objectives.
