My client is a leading company within the drainage industry, committed to delivering high-quality services and operational excellence. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Transport & Logistics to oversee the effective management of our yard, fleet, plant, and equipment.
Role Overview
The Transport & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the full operational management of the yard, company vehicles, plant, and equipment across company operations. This role ensures all fleet and equipment assets are maintained to high safety and quality standards, servicing and repairs are efficiently organised, stock and consumables are properly controlled, and compliance requirements are consistently met.
The role also involves coordinating with another Transport Manager regarding vehicle bookings, servicing schedules, and general fleet updates to ensure seamless operational support.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong organisational skills, industry knowledge, and a proactive approach to maintaining operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Yard & Site Management
*Ensure yard, office, and stores are secure, following daily opening and closing procedures.
*Supervise the overall organisation, cleanliness, and safety of the yard.
*Maintain accurate records of plant, equipment, and vehicle locations.
Fleet Management
*Oversee the daily management of all company vehicles.
*Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational condition.
*Monitor vehicle tracking systems and usage.
*Ensure vehicles meet all safety and compliance standards.
*Maintain accurate vehicle documentation and records.
*Coordinate vehicle bookings and updates with the Transport Manager.
Repairs, Servicing & Maintenance
*Organise and schedule routine servicing, MOTs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
*Coordinate repairs with external garages or in-house mechanics.
*Perform minor repairs and servicing where required.
*Monitor vehicle downtime and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
*Track service history and inspection dates.
Plant & Equipment Control
*Manage the check-in and check-out of plant and equipment.
*Ensure all items are in safe working order before deployment.
*Deliver plant and equipment to job sites as required.
*Support strategic planning for plant and equipment management.
Stock & Inventory Management
*Manage stock levels of consumables, parts, tools, and critical spares.
*Ensure vehicles are fully equipped for daily operations.
*Maintain accurate inventory records and reorder supplies when necessary.
*Prevent loss, damage, or misuse of company assets.
Compliance & Reporting
*Ensure all vehicles are insured, taxed, and legally compliant.
*Maintain logs of inspections, maintenance, and audits.
*Conduct periodic van and equipment audits.
*Produce reports on fleet condition, costs, and operational performance.
*Implement cost-control and efficiency improvement measures.
Requirements
*Previous experience in a similar transport, fleet, yard, or logistics role.
*Experience within the drainage or related industry preferred.
*Strong understanding of plant and vehicle maintenance.
*Ability to carry out minor repairs and servicing.
*Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
*Strong communication and coordination abilities.
*Proactive, hands-on approach to operational management.
