We are seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead a long-established youth charity in Coventry. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO will translate strategic vision into effective services, strong impact, and a safe, well-managed and financially sustainable organisation for children and young people.
This role provides overall leadership across operations, safeguarding, culture, finance and service delivery, ensuring the organisation remains stable, trusted and forward looking.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
*Convert the Board’s strategy into clear operational plans
*Lead the development and delivery of high quality youth services
*Identify opportunities for innovation, partnerships and programme growth
*Ensure all activity aligns with the charity’s mission and priorities
Leadership of Staff and Volunteers
*Lead and inspire the senior management team
*Ensure managers effectively lead their teams
*Build a professional and youth-centred organisational culture
*Ensure volunteers are fully trained, supported and supervised
Safeguarding and Duty of Care
*Hold ultimate responsibility for safeguarding across the charity
*Maintain robust policies, training and reporting systems
*Oversee risk management and ensure concerns are escalated appropriately
*Promote a culture where safeguarding is consistently prioritised
Finance, Fundraising and Sustainability
*Oversee financial planning, budgeting and monitoring
*Provide accurate financial reporting to trustees
*Lead fundraising across grants, trusts, statutory income and donor relationships
*Maintain clear visibility of cash flow and ensure long-term financial resilience
Operational Leadership
*Ensure services run smoothly, safely and effectively day to day
*Lead compliance, risk management and quality assurance
*Ensure policies are consistently embedded across the organisation
*Address operational issues at a strategic level
Governance and Reporting
*Provide timely and accurate reports on finance, impact, risk and performance
*Advise trustees to inform effective decision making
*Ensure compliance with charity law and regulation
*Highlight issues early and provide clear recommendations
External Representation and Partnerships
*Act as the public representative of the charity
*Build strong relationships with funders, schools, local authorities and community partners
*Represent the organisation within networks and strategic forums
*Enhance the charity’s visibility and reputation locally and regionally
