Job Description:
CAD Technician
Full-time, permanent
Doncaster, on site
Monday – Friday
The CAD Design Technician will work under the guidance of the Drawing Office Manager or Project Leader to produce detailed design documentation for individual machines or machines forming part of large-scale factory line installations.
Projects may include standard machines configured to meet specific client requirements, as well as fully bespoke machinery designed from concept through to manufacture.
In addition to machinery design, the role will involve producing structural support and access gantry designs associated with factory line installations.
As a CAD Technician, you will be required to:
*Produce detailed mechanical component drawings
*Produce detailed mechanical assembly drawings
*Produce structural steelwork drawings
*Develop accurate 3D CAD models
*Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
*Liaise with manufacturing, procurement, and other departments to resolve technical and design issues
*Ensure drawings and models comply with company standards and relevant industry standards
*Support design reviews and revisions as required
The ideal candidate will have:
*Minimum HNC (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
*Proficiency in 3D CAD, particularly Autodesk Inventor
*Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
*Structural engineering knowledge
*Good understanding of manufacturing processes
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
*Ability to interpret technical specifications and client requirements
*Strong communication and problem-solving skills
*Experience with SolidWorks or Solid Edge is desirable.
Desirable knowledge:
*Knowledge of PDM software, preferably Autodesk Vault
*Experience with AutoCAD (2D)
*Hydraulic and pneumatic system design
*Machinery and mechanical handling systems
*Fluid system design (e.g., flumes, piping layouts, pump specification)
*Civil engineering knowledge
*Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
*Ability to perform hand calculations
*Site surveying experience
*Experience with iLogic programming
*Knowledge of iParts and iAssemblies
