The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
*Build trusting, steady relationships with pupils aged 7–16 who may present with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, avoidance or challenging behaviour.
*Provide 1:1 and small-group support, promoting wellbeing, engagement and positive routines.
*Use restorative approaches, active listening, co-regulation, and therapeutic strategies to help pupils manage emotions.
*Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, outdoor learning, vocational tasks and experiential learning.
*Work collaboratively with Teachers, Pastoral Leads, Therapists, Family Support Teams, and Behaviour Specialists.
*Encourage independence, social skills, confidence and positive self-esteem.
*Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued.
This role is highly rewarding and ideal for someone who thrives in a setting where relationships come before curriculum and every day brings a fresh opportunity to make an impact.
