Job Purpose
West Midlands Growth Company helps create new jobs, build and expand businesses, attract regional investment and encourage tourism.
Working within the Commercial Partnerships team, the Commercial Partnerships Development Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of the Partnerships Insight strand of our new commercial strategy – connecting our corporate and commercial partners into the new regional economic development system which includes WMGC, the West Midlands Combined Authority, Local Authorities and Universities.
This role acts as the primary liaison between our network of partners to ensure regional & national insight, data and policy developments are collated and presented to partners in a timely, and market-facing manner.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and senior leadership, the Commercial Partnerships Development Manager ensures that our partners receive a consistent, high-quality experience that strengthens commitment to the region, maximises long-term value, and contributes to the ambition of making the West Midlands a destination of choice for investment, talent, and economic growth.

This is an exciting time to join us. As we evolve into a new regional Economic Development Vehicle (EDV), you’ll play a key role in the successful establishment of a major, new regional operation, aligned to the region’s economic growth plans.
Lead the delivery of our Partnership Insight strand within WMGC’s Commercial Partnerships Strategy *Develop and maintain a three-year delivery programme for the Partnerships Insight strand
*Work with the Senior PWM Partnerships Lead and Commercial Partnerships Lead to engage our commercial partners to map insight/data/policy needs of partners.
*Work with stakeholders across the regional economic development system to create a collaborative approach to sharing insight, data and policy developments with our commercial partners; and to getting their views on key issues.
*Provide regular insight to support the delivery of our Commercial Partnerships Strategy
Turning Insight into Market-Facing Delivery*Analyse and Convert insight, data and policy intelligence collated from the economic development system into meaningful insights and narratives for partners.
*Work with stakeholders across economic development system to support partner events, webinars and other activities to share intelligence and seek input & engagement from industry.
*Influence decisions across our commercial partnerships
*Support business cases with insight and evidence.
Reporting, Dashboards & Performance Monitoring*Contribute to the Commercial Partnerships performance dashboards through WMGC’s CRM
*Provide regular insight packs (monthly, quarterly, strategic reports).
*Monitor performance against KPIs and flag variances and clear actions.
Key Skills and Competency Requirements:
Qualifications:
Degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
Skills and attributes:
Excellent stakeholder and partnership management skills.
Strong understanding of the public and private sectors.
Strong ability to interpret complex datasets and identify patterns, risks, and opportunities.
Ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations.
Clear verbal and written communication tailored to different audiences.
Highly self-motivated and results-driven, capable of owning success and delivering against targets.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where execution and adaptability are key.
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to log, track, and report all activities accurately in CRM systems for detailed performance reporting.
Proactive and future focused, with the ability to anticipate partner needs and emerging opportunities rather than reacting to them.
Strategic and creative thinker who can pro-actively identify opportunities and develop and deliver solutions
Knowledge and experience
Minimum of 3 years working in business-related research or data analytics.
Storytelling with Data: ability to present insight in a compelling narrative—not just numbers.
Advanced understanding of market research, data analysis, and insight-driven decision-making.
Solid grasp of performance reporting and translating metrics into actionable strategies.
Good understanding of the West Midlands policy landscape
