Location: Waltham Forest, East London
Position: Teaching Assistant
Contract: ASAP
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £1,800 - £2,200 per month
Veritas Education are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest seeking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant for the new academic year starting in September.
This role will involve supporting a Reception pupil on a 1:1 basis across two days per week. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the child’s academic progress, confidence, and overall engagement within the classroom environment.
The school is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating setting where every child is encouraged to explore, achieve, and develop both academically and personally. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider staff team to deliver an engaging and supportive learning experience.
This opportunity would suit someone with previous classroom experience, as well as recent graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience.
Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport for Pupils:
*Support the pupil’s academic progress under the direction of the class teacher and Inclusion Lead
*Set clear expectations while promoting independence and self-esteem
*Deliver targeted 1:1 or small group interventions
*Build a constructive and trusting relationship with the pupil
*Promote inclusion and positive peer interaction
Support for Teachers:
*Assist in creating a purposeful, structured, and supportive learning environment
*Implement learning strategies as directed by the teacher
*Support classroom organisation and preparation of resources
*Provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement
Qualifications & RequirementsEssential:
*GCSE Grade C/Level 2 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
*Strong communication and literacy skills
*A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
Desirable:
*Previous SEN experience within a school setting
*An honours degree (preferably 2:1 or above)
*Interest in Psychology, Education, or Child Development
