Job Description:
A leading law firm is seeking a talented Costs Negotiator to join their Legacy (Industrial Disease) team. This permanent role offers the opportunity to play a crucial part in pursuing the settlement of legal costs on a range of claims. As a Costs Negotiator, you will leverage your exceptional negotiation skills and in-depth understanding of the costs process to drive successful outcomes for our clients.
- Proactively review cases and formulate cost strategies- Establish strong working relationships with clients and colleagues- Contribute to the team’s performance objectives and client SLAs
Preferred Requirements:
*Proactively review cases to formulate an initial costs strategy and settlement parameters
*Prepare points of dispute and consider replies, identifying strengths and weaknesses of own case and opponent’s costs claimed
*Use telephone negotiation skills to discuss, put forward arguments, and negotiate settlement of costs
*Update clients on progress made in resolving costs claimed
*Instruct counsel and attend conferences, detailed assessment hearings, and mediations, both remotely and in person
Preferred Qualifications:*Minimum of 12 months’ experience as a Costs Negotiator, either for claimant or defendant, handling your own caseload
*Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD qualification
*Previous experience of client liaison, taking instructions, and providing advice both verbally and in writing
