Job Description:
Assistant Accountant
*Annual Salary: £32,000 - £36,000
*Location: Watford
*Job Type: Full-time, Standard Employment Terms
*FULLY OFFICE BASED
Join a well-known fashion brand as an Accountant. This role is ideal for someone who is AAT fully qualified or part qualified in ACCA or CIMA, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in financial accounting. Experience in a chartered accountancy firm and proficiency in SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting packages are highly desirable.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Check bank statements and update the cashbook for all currencies daily.
*Process purchase/bought ledger invoices, retrieve information from supplier portals/emails, and post/analyse/input invoices/credits onto SAGE 200 including coding to trial balance accounts.
*Maintain AP ledgers, AP spreadsheets, and reports, ensuring documents are authorised as per company procedures.
*Manage recurring and monthly journals, ensuring the purchase invoices tie up with purchase orders/GRNs.
*Prepare weekly payment runs and weekly cash flow forecasts, uploading payments on the bank’s net banking system.
*Post and allocate payments received and sent on a daily basis, and check purchase/bought ledger statements.
*Communicate with suppliers by phone or email, and archive accounts’ documents as per company procedure, including scanning AP documentation onto SAGE 200.
*Assist with preparing VAT returns, processing staff credit card expenses and analysis, raising customer credit notes, and uploading invoices/credit notes in the portal for the German subsidiary companies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA.
*Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably with some experience in a firm of chartered accountants.
*Proficient in using SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting package.
*Experienced in using ERP System and Excel (minimum VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables).
*Ability to work to strict deadlines with attention to detail.
*Strong team-working skills.
