Job Description:
Head of Supply Chain
*Location: Poole
*Job Type: Full-time
*Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
We are seeking a dynamic Head of Supply Chain to lead our sourcing, supplier management, operational performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This pivotal role ensures product availability, maintains strong supplier relationships, and ensures compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Operational & Inventory Leadership:
*Deliver exceptional stock availability and order fulfilment performance.
*Achieve and exceed key KPIs including OTIF (On Time in Full), SLOB (Slow Moving and Obsolete), and months-on-hand inventory targets.
*Optimise working capital through effective stock level management and reduction of excess inventory without compromising service.
*Set inventory strategies based on usage data, MOQs, EOQs, price breaks, and customer requirements.
*Implement stocking and ordering decisions stemming from S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) processes.
*Data, Reporting & Process Improvement:
*Maintain accurate product and supplier data including costs, lead times, lifecycle status, and alternatives.
*Oversee fulfilment data to ensure timely and professional execution of all supply chain tasks.
*Develop reports, strategies, and processes that drive efficiency, cost savings, and operational best practice.
*Provide cost, usage, and performance analysis to support strategic business decisions.
*Supplier Management:
*Maintain and develop strong supplier relationships across a wide portfolio.
*Organise and attend internal and external supplier meetings.
*Act as an escalation point for supplier performance issues.
*Work with supply partners, customers, and internal teams to enhance the product and service offering.
*Compliance, Performance & Continuous Improvement:
*Ensure full adherence to supply chain regulations and industry standards.
*Track supply chain performance metrics, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
*Report progress and insights across all business levels.
*Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly operational tasks as required.
*Support additional duties aligned with departmental needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in FMCG, wholesale distribution, or similar fast-paced environments.
*Strong inventory and logistics management skills.
*Experience managing multiple warehouses domestically and internationally.
*Proven capability working with overseas 3PLs and global distribution models.
*Skilled in handling large SKU portfolios with varying lead times.
*Demonstrated record of achieving significant cost savings.
*Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
*Communication and problem-solving ability.
*Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS) and fulfilment technologies.
*Strong planning skills with the ability to coordinate end-to-end operational workflows.
*Commercially astute with strong financial awareness.
*Able to identify, anticipate, and manage supply chain risks.
*Calm, resilient, and effective in high-pressure or deadline-driven environments.
*Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
