An opportunity has arisen within the Control team for a Fire Control Operator (Firefighter Control), based at this Fire Service’s Headquarters in Sheffield.

Location: Central Sheffield Headquarters, S1
Hours: Full Time, 42 hours per week
Contract: 24 months FTC
Work Pattern: 2/2/4 Shift Pattern (Including weekend working) 2 Day Shifts (09:00 – 18:00) / 2 Night Shifts (18:00 – 09:00) / 4 Days Off (Rota)
Salary: £28,865 (Development Rate), £36,937 (Competent Rate)
The overall purpose of the role is to contribute to the professional running of the fire control room by taking emergency calls from the public and partner agencies, and mobilising fire appliances and resources to resolve situations quickly and effectively. Post holders will also be required to undertake a wide range of administrative and data monitoring work to ensure operational readiness and to support & coordinate the Service’s emergency response.
To be considered for this role you will need to have previous experience of administration, data coordination and working with data and recording systems. You will have excellent communication skills, a methodical and logical approach to tasks, and be able to maintain a calm and professional approach at all times even within high pressure situations. You may have experience within a contact or call centre environment but this is not essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate appropriate personal qualities and attributes for the role and embrace the Service’s organisational values and core behaviours.
