If you enjoy diagnosing faults, rebuilding engines, working with mechanical and electrical systems — but fancy something a little different — this could be your next move.
We are recruiting a Land-based Marine Engineer to maintain and support a fleet of modern vessels operating on the River Thames. This is a workshop / vessel based role in London, ideal for engineers/mechanics who want to transfer their skills into the marine industry without going to sea.
Why This Role Could Be Perfect for You:

• Stable, full-time land-based position
• Varied work — no two vessels are exactly the same
• Opportunity to gain marine qualifications and progress
The Role:
As part of our engineering team, you will:
• Carry out planned servicing and maintenance on marine diesel engines and propulsion systems
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Maintain hydraulic, steering and auxiliary systems
• Conduct safety inspections and compliance checks
• Support breakdown response when required
• Keep accurate maintenance records
• Collaborate with engineers, work well in a team environment and liaise with management and crew to ensure vessel reliability and safety
You will work from our London workshop and piers, ensuring vessels are safe, reliable and ready for daily passenger service.
About You:
We are especially interested in candidates from an Automotive, HGV, PSV, Plant, Industrial, Agricultural machinery background.
You may currently be a:
• Vehicle Technician
• HGV Mechanic
• Fleet Engineer
• PSV Engineer
• Plant Fitter
You’ll ideally have:
• Strong diesel engine knowledge
• Experience with diagnostics and fault finding
• Good understanding of mechanical and basic electrical systems
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Engineering or similar
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset
Marine experience is not required, but beneficial — we will train the right person.
What We Offer:
• Competitive salary
• Overtime opportunities
• Pension scheme
• Sickness pay scheme
• Company vehicle
• Ongoing training and marine certification
• Career progression within a growing marine fleet
• The chance to work around some of London’s most iconic river locations
