Job Description:
We are delighted to be representing a family owned manufacturing business in their search for a Head of Finance. The business, based in Newmarket was started in 2005, specialising in air conditioning installation and servicing, including the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of air conditioning and ventilation systems across the UK. They are proud to work with the biggest names in the hospitality. retail and construction sectors. Employing a total of 29 staff, consisting of Directors, Managers, and experienced and qualified engineers; it is an objective of the business to run our operations avoiding unnecessary or unacceptable effects on the environment.
The business has grown to 10 million turnover through a great product offering and impeccable customer service, and feel now is the right time to bring in their first Head of Finance to support the MD, Project Director and the wider teams.
We are looking for a Head of Finance who can manage the accounting decisions and financial overview for both elements of the business they are looking for an astute, pragmatic and capable pair of hands to manage the finances for a growing business. The office environment is really vibrant, they take their work seriously but enjoy each other’s company and share a common goal of customer first.
Your key responsibilities will include:
*To be an active leader within the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the strategy, direction & performance of the overall business, ensuring that they meet their financial targets and future growth aspirations.
*To interpret and share valuable and timely insight from financial reporting and costing that informs decision making across the business to drive our profit and growth ambitions.
*Full responsibility of all aspects of the finance function including; management of the bookkeeper, payroll, oversight of timely invoicing, credit control and VAT and all other tasks within the accounting function.
*Collaborate with our external accountant with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
*Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are accurate and delivered in a timely manner. Ensuring entities remain up to date and compliant with relevant legislation including latest accounting standards.
*To maintain a control and reporting environment that provides high levels of accuracy, strong governance, secure assets, and manages risk.
*To deliver core finance processes e.g. budgeting / cash flow forecasts
*Continue the development of effective costing systems to enable accurate and rapid understanding of customer profitability and therefore drive better decision making in the business
The Person will have:
*Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) within a commercial organisation with responsibility for end to end finance.
*Strong technical competence to ensure all aspects of financial management and control are in place with the right level of rigour.
*Able to demonstrate experience of trusted partnering with key stakeholders to provide counsel, challenge thinking, and identify/explore alternative solutions whilst remaining sufficiently independent to hold them to account.
*A well-developed and demonstrable commercial understanding of a customer focused environment.
*The critical thinking and problem-solving capability necessary to resolve multi-faceted business challenges and to spot trends and opportunities
*The ability to work effectively across both the strategic and operational dimensions of the role, across big picture and the detail.
*A track record of delivering results - understanding of how to marshal and align cross functional/business resources to get things done and with effective cross-business collaboration
*Proficiency in Xero Accounting and Microsoft Excel. Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of new financial systems when required.
