Electrical Instructor / Electrical Engineering Trainer
Location: MOD Lyneham, Wiltshire
Salary: £44,000-£47,500
We are looking for an Electrical Instructor / Electrical Engineering Trainer to deliver General Technician Electrical training within a structured engineering training environment at MOD Lyneham.
You do not need prior military experience. While an understanding of defence or RAF structures is helpful, it is absolutely not essential. Full support and development will be provided.
If you don’t yet hold a teaching qualification, we will support you in achieving a Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training within your first 12 months.
The Role As an Electrical Instructor, you will deliver and support training across electrical and electro-mechanical engineering subjects including:
*Electrical power generation and distribution (single-phase & three-phase)
*Electrical systems and general electronics
*Industrial electrical maintenance & fault diagnosis
*Electro-mechanical systems
*Engineering health & safety standards
You will play a key role in developing competent electrical technicians through structured classroom delivery, practical workshop instruction and formal assessment.
Key Responsibilities *Deliver engaging classroom and practical electrical engineering training
*Develop lesson plans, presentations, workbooks and training materials
*Design and mark written exams and practical assessments
*Support learners through feedback, mentoring and remedial coaching
*Maintain accurate training records and course documentation
*Contribute to course design and continuous improvement of training programmes
*Ensure all activity complies with health & safety, COSHH and engineering safety standards
*Maintain training equipment and workshop environments
*Participate in internal quality assurance and teaching observations
*Keep your technical knowledge up to date through Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
You should have:
*Strong knowledge of electrical systems and power distribution
*Experience in maintenance, inspection and fault finding
*Supervisory or team leadership experience
*HND (or equivalent) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline
*Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Qualifications *Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training (or willingness to achieve within 12 months)
*IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S qualification (desirable)
*Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (desirable but not essential)
