We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst (Land) to join our Land Strategy team, bringing clarity to complex data, help shape long-term plans, and support the wider business in making informed, sustainable decisions.
About The RoleIn this senior position, you’ll lead the analysis, interpretation and communication of land-related data across the Land Strategy team and beyond. You’ll be the technical expert who ensures data is structured well, managed consistently, and used to drive strategic thinking.
You’ll guide analysts working with land data across the business, champion best practice, and make sure our reporting and processes meet high standards. From shaping the structure of our land database to providing insight that informs regulatory and strategic deliverables, your work will directly contribute to how United Utilities manages land now and in the future.

Key Responsibilities*Lead the analysis and dissemination of land data, producing insight for strategic planning and regulatory submissions.
*Own and maintain the structure of the land database, ensuring consistent, accurate, and compliant data capture.
*Create, deliver and continually refine the Land Optimisation process (LandRev).
*Map land priorities, risks, challenges and opportunities across the estate.
*Coordinate data contributions, consolidate content and validate information with a high level of accuracy.
*Review outputs to ensure they meet organisational standards and stakeholder needs.
*Provide analytical support for research and strategic initiatives across the land function.
*Work collaboratively with teams across the business to deliver timely data and insight.
*Identify risks and opportunities linked to legislation and future policy changes.
*Engage with internal and external stakeholders, offering clear explanations of complex information.
*Generate new ideas and solutions to support business challenges and ensure changes are implemented effectively.
*Support landscape-scale planning and broader spatial analysis with external partners.
*Analyse existing processes and recommend improvements, removing inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
*Champion continuous improvement and consistent application of best practices within business analysis across land data.
*Contribute to the development of the business land strategy and horizon-scanning activities.
*Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Skills & Experience*A degree (or equivalent) in a numerate or technical discipline.
*Strong experience working with land, environmental data, or within the water industry.
*Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and drive improvements independently.
*Advanced experience with analytical tools, databases and decision-support systems.
*Strong project management capability, able to manage multiple tasks and deliver consistently.
*Excellent written and verbal communication, able to challenge and clarify data where needed.
*A proactive, organised and results-focused mindset with the ability to prioritise effectively.
*Confident working with a range of stakeholders and building positive relationships across departments.
