School Caretaker (Temp to Perm)
Salary: £26,656 per annum
Contract: Temp to Perm
Hours: 3-week rotating shift pattern
*Week 1: 7:30am – 3:30pm
*Week 2: 8:00am – 4:00pm
*Week 3: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Temporary cover hours before rota starts: 8:30am – 4:30pm
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and hands-on School Caretaker to join our friendly premises team. This is a vital role in keeping our school safe, clean, and running smoothly. Working alongside the Premises Manager, you’ll help maintain the buildings, grounds, and facilities to a high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing
General Maintenance & Caretaking
Your day-to-day tasks will include a wide range of duties such as:
*General cleaning (including occasional bodily fluids)
*Basic plumbing and routine repairs
*Changing light bulbs and minor electrical tasks (non-technical)
*Basic carpentry, painting, and decorating
*Moving furniture and supporting room setups for events
*Grounds and outdoor maintenance
*Escorting contractors around the site
*Pool maintenance (training provided)
*Minibus checks and upkeep
*Helping manage the car park during busy school times
*Safely using tools and equipment such as drills, electric saws, and floor polishers
*Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of heavy items
Site Upkeep & Health and Safety
*Ensure all areas of the school are clean, presentable, and safe at all times
*Help organise and carry out planned maintenance and annual checks
*Report maintenance needs or contractor concerns to the Premises Manager
*Prioritise daily and weekly tasks and complete them to a high standard
*Take prompt action when repairs are needed to minimise disruption
Supporting Staff, Contractors & Visitors
*Liaise with contractors and visitors to ensure safe working practices
*Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
*Prepare rooms and facilities for school activities, meetings, and events
*Make sure all equipment, tools, and hazardous materials are safely stored
Administration & Compliance
*Complete any required paperwork accurately and on time
*Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report hazards immediately
*Support with car-park supervision to ensure safe arrival and departure of pupils and visitors
