Senior Sous Chef - West Sussex Coast
Highly successful restaurant
Experienced and driven Senior Sous Chef to support the Head Chef leading the kitchen team and delivering consistently high-quality food. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a motivated chef ready to take the next step in their career within a forward-thinking and ambitious operation.
They have recently completed a major modern refurbishment designed by an award-winning restaurant designer and are preparing to expand operations throughout 2026.
The Role:
You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining standards at all times while contributing creatively to menu development and service execution.
Key Responsibilities:
*Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
*Work closely with FOH, bar, and management teams to ensure outstanding guest experiences
*Lead food preparation, oversee the pass, and step into any section as required
*Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen brigade
*Oversee food preparation and service for lunch and dinner
*Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
*Assist with menu development, specials, and continuous improvement
*Manage stock control, ordering, and wastage
*Step into the Head Chef role when required
About You:
*Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef, ideally within Mediterranean or similar fresh, seasonal cuisine
*Passion for high-quality food and fresh ingredients
*Strong leadership and communication skills
*Solid knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance
*Flexible, reliable, and team-oriented
*This is a full-time position that includes evenings, weekends, and split shifts.
*Weekend availability is essential due to the nature of the hospitality industry.
Salary & Benefits:
*£34,000 per annum, based on a 40-hour working week (excluding gratuities)
*Gratuities paid per hour worked, averaging £600–£900 per calendar month, paid monthly via wages
