Commercial Account Handler – Construction & Commercial
Salary up to £50,000 (depending on experience), CII sponsorship included
Location: Croydon
We are partnering with an independent insurance brokerage in the hiring of a Commercial Account Handler, who will support its Broking Executive team across a growing portfolio of construction and general commercial clients.
The opportunity is ideal for an experienced Commercial Account Handler looking for broader exposure, structured progression, and the chance to grow within a forward-thinking, independent brokerage.
The Role
This is initially a support-focused role, working closely with Executives across a variety of construction and commercial risks, while developing your own technical and broking expertise.
You will be involved in:
*Supporting Broking Executives on large complex corporate accounts – up to £200,000+ GWP
*Working extensively with construction risks including EL, PL, Contractors All Risk, Fleet, Property and PI
*Managing 10–20 renewals per month with new business and MTA processing incorporated
*Producing manual market presentations, reports and client documentation
*Gathering and negotiating terms from insurer panels (largely open market broking)
*Handling client and insurer queries
*Managing smaller SME policies independently (depending on experience)
*You will be speaking with clients, insurers, Directors, and colleagues. You’ll be expected to pick up the phone, build relationships, and get involved across the wider team when needed.

Ideal Background
*5+ years’ commercial insurance experience
*Experience working alongside an Account Executive ideally or leading your own corporate accounts
*Strong knowledge of construction and/or general commercial risks
*Confident communicator who builds relationships over the phone
