Grounds Maintenance Operative – SummaryRole Overview:
Reporting to the Estate Services Manager, the role involves delivering high-quality gardening and grounds maintenance services across local estates and hubs. The work is outdoors in all weather conditions and can be physically demanding. Tools, machinery, uniform, PPE, and safety equipment are provided.
Key Responsibilities:
*Carry out general grounds maintenance tasks such as weeding, planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and lawn care.
*Operate a range of machinery and tools (including mowers, strimmers, brush cutters, tractors) in line with safety guidelines.
*Apply fertilisers and pesticides where required.
*Support small-scale landscaping projects.
*Clear leaves, moss, and snow; apply salt/grit when needed.
*Address vandalism (including graffiti) and report issues appropriately.
*Supervise or coach apprentices/trainees when required.
*Report maintenance defects, tenancy breaches, and anti-social behaviour.
*Act as a point of contact for residents, providing professional and courteous service.
*Be mindful of vulnerable residents and follow safeguarding procedures.
*Follow health and safety regulations and maintain safe working practices.
*Provide cover for colleagues when needed and undertake additional reasonable duties.
Essential Requirements:
*Experience in gardening or grounds maintenance.
*Experience working in small teams.
*Basic understanding of health and safety in a practical environment.
*Valid UK driving licence (Category C1) and ability to drive company vehicles.
